Monotypes as opposed to more traditional prints have opened up the ability to be more inventive and conceptual. Monotypes cut across traditional studio boundries by connecting painting and printmaking.

Monotypes give me the chance to rethink and reposition shapes and surfaces. Thus giving more painterly plasticity and meaning to its content.

I am a process artist, so as the piece progresses, the work begins to take on a life of its own. I rethink each step and layer -- challenging all preconceived notions about printmaking. This makes for what we so aptly refer to as the unique print, the one-of-a-kind. I have never been interested in printmaking editions. I am bored by repetition, and challenged by confrontation. Both printmaking and painting are my mistress, she is always fickle, elusive, and subject to change --yet seductive, confounding and challenging.
